Warren PLATNER (1919 – 2006)

Interior designer Warren Platner studied architecture at Cornell University before working as a designer at various architectural firms including Raymond Loewy, I.M. Pei, Eero Saarinen and Kevin Roche. While working in Eero Saarinen’s office he helped build Washington Dulles Airport, as well as other major projects. In 1966 he created his famous collection of chairs and ottomans as well as tables; a collection featuring the sculptural bases of nickel-plated rods resembling a shiny sheaf of wheat that has been his trademark.
