Harold COHEN (1928-2016)

Harold Cohen is born in London, England and began his studies at the Slade School of Art, before heading to the United States as a visiting lecturer at the University of California, San Diego in 1968.

Here he was given the rank of professor and stayed on for nearly three decades. It was in America that he began developing the software for which he is best known; AARON, a computer programme that produces art autonomously.

This meeting of artificial intelligence and art brought his work much notoriety and acclaim, leading to many high profile exhibitions, including at Tate, London.

Cohen passed away in April 2016, but is remembered for his pioneering artworks.
