MADC (1980) – Claudia Walde

Claudia Walden aka MadC was born in 1980 in Bautzen. She is a German graffiti artist.

MadC began her artistic journey as a graffiti artist when she was a teenager. She studied art and design at the University of Burg Giebichenstein in Halle and in London at Central Saint Martins College where she graduated with a master’s degree in graphic design.

It is MadC’s philosophy that graffiti is the greatest way to express one’s self due to the fact that the end product is all that matters and that no one has to know your true identity

MadC is also the author of two books dealing with street art and graffiti

One of her major works which allowed her to be internationally recognized in 2010, is the wall known as the 700-Wall.

This 639 m2 wall extends along a railway line between Berlin and Halle.

For her canvases she is transferring her philosophy of connecting single parts to one piece – background, foreground, lines and shapes. To create those works, MadC uses spray paint, transparent spray paint, ink, watercolor, acrylic paint and acrylic markers. She is painting on canvas as well as carton from spray paint boxes.
