Joseph RAUMANN (1908 – 1999)
Born in 1908 in Budapest, Hungary he emigrated to France to study. He was a self-taught painter in a postimpressionist or neoimpressionist style. He was long under an exclusivity contract with Claude Marumo with whom he got angry and was no longer agreeing.
Exhibiting at The Goupil Gallery in Paris he was first attached to symbolic abstraction, he then practiced a more figurative form of art. He obtained the Grand Prix of the City of Agen in 1980 and was a member of the Friends of the Arts of Agen. His favorite subjects where, Ports, rivers, beaches and small fishing ports. Raumann dies on January 17, 1999 in Agen.
