Mixed media engraving in intaglio on paper signed and dated on lower right and numbered on lower left. One of an edition of 50 signed, dated and numbered etchings.

Note: Intaglio (etching) print – the deep blacks and velvety transitions indicate mordanting on a metal plate. The gray border and gestural lines around the central motif appear to have been printed with a lithographic stone.

Roussil liked to combine techniques—the rigor of engraving and the spontaneity of lithography—to create a dialogue between matter and movement.

The white, almost skeletal, organic forms recall his biomorphic sculptures: here he transposes three-dimensionality onto the graphic plane.

The star on the right acts as a point of energy, a cosmic reference point—a recurring theme in his work, linked to vitality and genesis.
