Francis de ERDELY (1904 – 1959) – Ferenc Erdelyi

Ferenc Erdelyi known as Francis de Erdely was born in Budapest in 1904 and died in Los Angeles in 1959. He is a painter and draftsman of Hungarian origin. He studied at the Budapest Academy, the Sorbonne, the École du Louvre in Paris and the Academia San Fernando in Madrid.

First major exhibition was in Madrid in 1924. He is author of powerfully constructed works which evoke images of post-war poverty as well as scenes of everyday life.

Artworks at the Museum of Antwerp, the Art Institute of Chicago and the National Gallery of Victoria in Melbourne
