Bronze sculpture by Georges Braque – Titled: Zetes and Calais cast of 2003. (Inspired and casted after his creation Les Oiseaux, 1953 for the Louvre museum and after the 1963 gouache reproduced in the book “Les metamorphoses de Braque” page 47)

Bronze edition with golden brown patina signed, numbered and foundry stamp. One of an edition of 8 signed and numbered proofs.

Foundry: Blanchet-Landowski, France

Dimensions: Height with black base: 27 x 42 cm – 10.6 x 16.5 in.

Zetes and Calais are the twin sons of Boreas, the North Wind in Greek mythology. In reference to their father, they bear the name of Boreades. The two brothers took part in the expedition of the Argonauts, led by Jason, to conquer the Golden Fleece.

This sculpture exists also in ceramic with gold leave as well as gold jewels and a embossed lithography series enhanced with gold leaf.
